If you are tired of looking at blandly designed holiday homes in gated residences in the South of France, you might well be tempted to check a few out which are really outstanding in terms of architecture and style. So many people tend to go for the new build holiday homes as they are advertised widely and readily available through many types of Broker but they are missing out on style.
One option is an architect-designed villa. You can buy them at a reasonable price, often with a pool as one of the main features. These Languedoc villas are characterised by white or yellow stone and huge vaulted arches on the outside of the house – great for escaping the hot sun.
Another option is the traditional mas, an old farmhouse often to be found in the South of France. Although often dating back centuries, there are many which have been extensively and tastefully renovated, especially designed to keep the cold out in winter and the heat out in summer.
Then there are the old renovated wine-growers houses, characterised by spacious rooms and full of character. There are often preserved details still relating to the wine growers trade and they make delightful holiday homes.
The options are limitless and you should shop around to see what is on offer in the South of France.
